Debunking Psaki’s Putin Propaganda
To a progressive you just need to tell the lie once. They don't do the research.
Psaki: “You may have noticed this week that your prices have gone up.”

Biden’s Attack on American Energy is Causing Pain at the Pump
The Biden administration is avoiding responsibility and shifting blame for the record-high gas prices across America. Don’t let them fool you. Gas prices have increased every single month under this Administration – not just since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – and it’s because of the Left’s attack on American energy.
We’re setting the record straight and debunking Psaki’s video that plays like Putin’s propaganda. ↓
Psaki: “You may have noticed this week that your prices have gone up.”
The TRUTH: Gas prices have gone up every month since President Biden took office in January 2021. According to the EIA, during the Biden administration, average gas prices have increased over $1/gallon from $2.25 to $3.44, and were surging upwards, BEFORE Russia invaded Ukraine. Today, America is facing a national average of $4.32/gallon – the highest cost ever.
Psaki: “A lot of it has to do with Vladimir Putin.”
The TRUTH: This is transparent blame shifting. President Biden’s decision to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline and lobby AGAINST sanctions for Putin’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline emboldened Russia by signaling that the U.S. would not uphold its commitments to allies or maintain its global energy leadership in the face of opposition from radical environmentalists.
Psaki: “They are such a big producer of oil in the world is the reason why the global markets are disturbed right now and why your gas prices are going up.”
The TRUTH: Russian imports accounted for approximately 8% of U.S. oil imports in 2021. The Biden administration chose to shut down American energy on day one, driving Russian crude oil and petroleum product imports to the U.S. to an 11-year high in 2021 under President Biden.
Psaki: “The President’s going to do everything he can to bring down the price of gas for the American people.”
The TRUTH: The Biden administration could unleash American energy production and jobs but has chosen to continue its attack on American energy production and jobs. President Biden cancelled the Keystone XL, paused new oil and gas leases for drilling on federal lands, increased EPA regulations on oil and gas producers, made it harder to approve new pipelines, and pressured financial institutions to divest from fossil fuels.
Here are things President Biden could do right now to flip the switch on American energy:
Approve the Keystone XL Pipeline
Restart new drilling leases on federal lands and water
Expedite projects to export LNG to our allies in Europe and around the world
End the Democrats’ pressure campaign to stifle investments in the oil and gas industries
Rescind FERC’s interim natural gas policy statement, which unnecessarily delays infrastructure permits
Psaki: “U.S. production of oil and gas is rising. In fact, in the first year of the Biden presidency there was more oil and gas produced in the United States than the first year of the Trump presidency.”
The TRUTH: Under President Biden, U.S. oil production DECLINED by over 1.5 million barrels per day, from the peak production of 13 million barrels per day in 2020.
President Biden also imposed a moratorium on fossil energy development on Federal lands and waters, and he stifled U.S. energy production through bureaucratic delays. The Biden administration is creating a regulatory environment that is hurting America’s ability to produce oil and gas domestically.
Psaki: “Right now, there are 9,000 approved unused permits that oil and gas companies could tap into now to ramp up production.”
The TRUTH: The White House is using this statistic to confuse and distract you from what is really holding back American energy production. The Administration is currently sitting on more than 4,500 permits to drill, which must be approved so American workers can produce more energy here at home to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
At the same time, the Department of Energy is delaying six permits for LNG and natural gas export projects, which have already undergone environmental reviews and could help provide vital fuel to our allies around the world to fight back against Russia. Russia historically has supplied about 40% of Europe’s natural gas – this Administration should be using all the tools in its toolbox to promote U.S. LNG exports to replace the Russian supplies with American energy.
The Biden’s Administration’s opposition to pipelines and necessary energy infrastructure has already led to the cancelation of at least four other major pipeline projects that could have served more than 25 million homes. The cancelation of these four pipelines has already restricted nearly 10 percent of U.S. natural gas production – which is hurting our workers.
Psaki: “So what the president is doing is ensuring we’re taking steps here to get more oil out into the global marketplace. That includes the release of 40 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve back in the fall. And he just announced the planned release of an additional 30 million barrels.”
The TRUTH: The Strategic Petroleum Reserve release in November 2021 was a band-aid solution that did not help lower surging prices at the pump. The release was enough for 3 days-worth of supply for the United States or roughly what the world consumes every 12 hours. A week after the release, gas prices were down nationally $0.02/gallon and two weeks after the release, gas prices decreased nationally $0.07/gallon before rising again. Today, the national average is $4.32, a record high that hits working class families hardest, with inflation surging out of control and the cost of all household bills going up.
Psaki: “The only way to protect the United States over the long term is to become energy independent. That’s why the President has been so focused on investing in clean technologies so that we can rely on that and not President Putin to set the price of gas.”
The TRUTH: Energy security is national security. The United States is the number one producer of oil and gas in the world, and it’s in our national security interest to maintain our global leading position. The United States leads in environmental standards when it comes to producing and exporting oil and gas. Natural gas produced in the U.S. is 41% cleaner than Russian natural gas. Producing natural gas here and exporting it is not only better for our energy security and economy, but also for the environment.
We need an all-of-the-above strategy that includes renewables; yet we’re not even in the top ten producers of the critical materials and minerals needed to manufacture renewables and batteries. Rather than increase our dependence on China, which controls more than 80% of the critical minerals and materials needed to manufacture renewables and batteries, we must cut the red tape to allow for domestic mining and processing of minerals. We can’t trade American energy security by rushing to green technologies that make us reliant on the Chinese Communist Party.
