Cable TV Wars. FOX is still king. Photo by Tech Daily on Unsplash
There’s no denying that FNC is king of the cable networks. Many times their audience will beat MSNBC and CNN combined. Many time they will also beat some of the major networks. Gutfeld outdrew ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Greg Gutfeld’s late-night program also topped CBS" The Late Show with Stephen Colbert multiple times during April.
They took the top 12 spots in the cable ratings. Closest to them was Maddow at 13. What happens when she goes to one night a week? MSNBC’s primetime performance among the demo was eclipsed by 25 different basic cable options, including Syfy, FXX, TV Land, Adult Swim, Comedy Central and Bravo.
But the two other major Cable channels are NewsMax and OAN.
OAN claims 30M viewers in 210 local markets, based on Comscore measurement solution. OAN ranked as the fourth-highest service in that genre, behind Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN. OAN outperformed CNN Headline News, Fox Business Channel, CNBC, BBC World News, Fusion, Bloomberg and others.
In July 2020, Nielsen started measuring the TV audience for Newsmax. The network is currently available in 51.5 million TV households (42.6% penetration), which lags behind rival news networks CNN (78.4 million), Fox News (76.7 million) and MSNBC 76.1 million). Newsmax also lags behind rival networks in viewers. They claim to have 75 million cable subscribers.
There are others. Pleas list the ones I missed.
CNN isn’t even worth mentioning. Anyone catch CNN+? I didn’t think so.
If you have a favorite cable channel, feel free to list it.
OAN is the best source of truthful news. DirecTV cancelled them early in April and the result is we are about to cancel DirecTV. OAN is available streaming online for free. Dan Ball is best OAN host. FOX's best is Carlson, then Watters, Judge Jeannine, Bongino, and Hilton, imo. CNN+ lasted ONE month - only 10,000 subscribers. HAHAHA
